Redruth housing — mining terraces and the estates that followed
Redruth is at the heart of the Cornish mining World Heritage Site and its housing reflects that history at every turn: dense Victorian miner's terraces along Fore Street, Chapel Street and the streets climbing toward Carn Brea; interwar semis filling Trewirgie Road and Illogan Highway; and post-war and modern estates spreading toward Pool and Lanner. The Victorian terraces have narrow apertures and tall doorways that suit a two-panel composite with top-light; the newer stock takes standard sizes without complication. A composite doorset handles both, and the survey adjusts the frame templating for the older properties where nothing is quite square.
Central Cornwall exposure — wet, windy, not coastal
Redruth sits centrally in west Cornwall at moderate elevation and picks up significant rainfall totals — more than either coast but without the salt exposure. Every TR15 and TR16 install uses a full compression multi-point lock, a proper cill drip and A2 stainless fixings as a minimum. The compression seal seats hard against the frame in the driven rain that comes over Carn Brea in November. It's not marine grade, but it's a genuine step up from a generic inland spec.

The mining terraces lean traditional — Racing Green, Chartwell Green and Cream lead the order book on Fore Street and Chapel Street. The interwar semis on Trewirgie Road take Anthracite Grey and Painswick confidently. Newer estates around Pool and Lanner favour flush-panel Anthracite Grey with brushed stainless hardware.
A Redruth install day
Access across most of Redruth is straightforward — parking is easier than the coastal towns and the estates around Pool take a van without ceremony. Fore Street and the tighter town-centre streets need materials-first drop and re-park. The old door and frame come out inside the first hour and handover paperwork is walked through by mid-afternoon.
