Bodmin sits at the crossroads of Cornwall's transport network, and its housing reflects a town that grew steadily through the 19th and 20th centuries rather than in tourist-driven bursts. Solid Victorian and Edwardian terraces line Fore Street and the streets climbing toward Beacon Road; interwar semis fill Berrycoombe and Priory Road; newer estates ring the outer edges toward Halgavor and Nanstallon. Every era arrives at the survey with slightly different proportions — the Victorian doorways are typically taller and narrower, the interwar semis want a wider six-panel, and the new-build estates lean flush-panel. The Bodmin Moor factor — cold, wet, and windier than the coast pretends
Bodmin sits at 500ft elevation on the western edge of Bodmin Moor, and the weather here is genuinely colder and wetter than the Cornish average. Frost days run three weeks longer than at Falmouth or Newquay, and the horizontal rain that comes off the moor in November tests any door seal that isn't set properly. Anthracite Grey leads by a distance on the newer estates around Halgavor. Chartwell Green and Racing Green suit the Victorian terraces along Fore Street. Cream and off-whites work well on the rendered semis in Berrycoombe. Duck Egg Blue is an occasional wild-card on the traditional cottages toward Cardinham.

Access is straightforward across most of Bodmin — parking is easier than the coastal towns and the estates around Halgavor and Priory Road take a van without ceremony.
