The grain is moulded into the GRP skin rather than printed flat, so it has genuine texture under the hand and catches light the way timber does. From the pavement it is very hard to tell apart from a stained hardwood door; up close you can see it is a manufactured finish, which most customers consider a fair trade for never having to re-varnish.
