A village built on mining ground, between two towns
Pool doesn't really have a separate identity from Camborne and Redruth on a map — the three run into each other along the old mineral tramway corridor — but it has a distinct housing character built directly on top of the county's mining history. Terraces near Tolgarrick Road and Tuckingmill were built for mine and foundry workers in the 19th century, with narrow frontages and modest openings, while the surrounding area has filled in over the decades with council-built and then privately developed estates spreading toward Illogan Highway and the retail park.
It's a practical, unpretentious place to fit doors. There's no conservation-area sensitivity to navigate and no premium second-home market pushing customers toward heritage detailing — most people here are full-time residents who want a door that keeps the weather and burglars out, doesn't need fussing over, and doesn't cost more than it needs to. That's exactly the brief composite handles well, and it's why Pool sits toward the lower end of our regional price bracket rather than the upper end.
