Endurance Tate composite door

The Tate is built on Endurance's 48mm solid engineered-timber core, so it stays rigid in Cornish wind and driving rain rather than flexing like a foam-filled slab. Roughly 26% of the face is glazed across 4 apertures, and every unit is fitted with toughened, argon-filled double glazing as standard. Supplied and installed across Cornwall by our own CERTASS-registered fitters, finished in any of the 20 Endurance colours shown on this page.

The Endurance Tate is a full-glazed door built around 4 glazed apertures, with 26% of the face glazed across 4 separate apertures. That proportion of glass is deliberate rather than decorative: a run this generous is built for hallways that need genuine daylight, not just a glimpse of the porch. Every unit is toughened and argon-filled as standard, and the 4-aperture layout is what gives the Tate its particular rhythm on the door face.

What sets the Tate apart on the doorstep is proportion rather than gimmick — the panel lines and glazing are sized so the door reads correctly from the pavement and not just up close. It has become a regular recommendation for sea-view properties.

This is a full glazed design. Anthracite Grey delivers architectural impact and reads sharp against brickwork, render, granite and slate across Cornwall.

Which Cornish properties suit the Tate

At 26% glazed, the Tate is neither a bright, glass-dominant design nor a fully private one — it occupies the middle ground that suits bright entrance halls. We would point a customer with a dark, narrow hall in St Ives towards this design over a solid panel, and towards it over a full-glazed design if they have young children or simply prefer not to be visible from the street when answering the door. As with every Endurance design, the Tate is backed by the 10-year manufacturer guarantee covering the core, the hardware and the colour finish, regardless of which property type it's fitted to.

Getting the colour right on the Tate

The Tate's 4-aperture glazing pattern photographs well in Slate Grey, where the frame lines around the glass stay crisp rather than disappearing into the panel colour. Golden Oak is the other finish we would put in front of a customer choosing this design — it is muted enough that the glazing, not the door colour, is the first thing you notice on the full-glazed face. For a bolder frontage, Chartwell Green gives the same proportions a completely different character without changing the layout at all. Whichever you choose, ask to see a physical sample against your own reclaimed brick; screens flatten differences that are obvious in daylight. Dual-colour finishing — a different shade inside and out — is available on the Tate at no extra cost, which is worth considering if the hallway decor doesn't match the exterior palette you want.

Glass designs and hardware for the Tate

We would default the Tate to an obscure design such as Harmony across all 4 apertures if the door opens straight onto a pavement, and offer Florida as the upgrade where more visibility through the glass is welcome — a rear garden door, for instance, or a porch that already screens the view. On hardware, this panel layout carries a slim lever handle well; a bulkier traditional set can look slightly out of scale against apertures this size. Multi-point locking and a 3-star anti-snap cylinder are fitted as standard regardless of glass or colour choice, so the security specification doesn't change whichever route you take with the Tate.
