The Starling is built on Endurance's 48mm solid engineered-timber core, so it stays rigid in Cornish wind and driving rain rather than flexing like a foam-filled slab. Roughly 3% of the face is glazed across 3 apertures, and every unit is fitted with toughened, argon-filled double glazing as standard. Supplied and installed across Cornwall by our own CERTASS-registered fitters, finished in any of the 20 Endurance colours shown on this page.
Cornwall Composite Doors fits the Starling more often than most of the part-glazed range, with 3% of the face glazed across 3 separate apertures. That proportion of glass is deliberate rather than decorative: a small run of apertures like this lets light reach a hallway without turning the door into a window. Every unit is toughened and argon-filled as standard, and the 3-aperture layout is what gives the Starling its particular rhythm on the door face.
We recommend the Starling most often for terraced homes, where the part-glazed proportions do more of the visual work than an elaborate glass design would.

Reading the Starling's proportions on a real frontage
At 3% glazed, the Starling is neither a bright, glass-dominant design nor a fully private one — it occupies the middle ground that suits village cottages. We would point a customer with a dark, narrow hall in Falmouth towards this design over a solid panel, and towards it over a full-glazed design if they have young children or simply prefer not to be visible from the street when answering the door. As with every Endurance design, the Starling is backed by the 10-year manufacturer guarantee covering the core, the hardware and the colour finish, regardless of which property type it's fitted to.
Finishing the Starling in the right shade
The Starling's 3-aperture glazing pattern photographs well in Quartz Grey, where the frame lines around the glass stay crisp rather than disappearing into the panel colour. Irish Oak is the other finish we would put in front of a customer choosing this design — it is muted enough that the glazing, not the door colour, is the first thing you notice on the part-glazed face. For a bolder frontage, Duck Egg gives the same proportions a completely different character without changing the layout at all. Whichever you choose, ask to see a physical sample against your own limewashed render; screens flatten differences that are obvious in daylight. Woodgrain finishes such as Golden Oak and Irish Oak are available on the Starling as well as the flat colours, and tend to suit this panel shape particularly well on older properties.
Finishing touches on the Starling
We would default the Starling to an obscure design such as Clarity across all 3 apertures if the door opens straight onto a pavement, and offer Kensington as the upgrade where more visibility through the glass is welcome — a rear garden door, for instance, or a porch that already screens the view. On hardware, this panel layout carries a slim lever handle well; a bulkier traditional set can look slightly out of scale against apertures this size. Lead time on the Starling is the same as the rest of the range — typically four to six weeks from survey to fit, whatever glass and hardware combination you choose.
