Can I choose a different glass design for the Lyell's apertures?

Yes. Glacier and Neo are the two we most often fit in this layout, but the Lyell's apertures accept the full Endurance glass range, from fully obscure privacy glass through to clear or bevelled options if the door doesn't face the street.

Does the Lyell suit a north-facing or naturally dark hallway?

Very well — the 15% glazed area is specifically enough to make a real difference to a dim hallway without a full-glass design.

The Lyell is built on Endurance's 48mm solid engineered-timber core, so it stays rigid in Cornish wind and driving rain rather than flexing like a foam-filled slab. Roughly 15% of the face is glazed across 11 apertures, and every unit is fitted with toughened, argon-filled double glazing as standard. Supplied and installed across Cornwall by our own CERTASS-registered fitters, finished in any of the 20 Endurance colours shown on this page.

On a pale render elevation the panel lines read as intentional rather than decorative, which matters on the terraced streets around Camborne and Bodmin where every door on the row is visible from the pavement. If your hallway is genuinely dark, this is one of the better-lit options in the half-glazed category without stepping up to a full-glass design. Getting the colour right on the Lyell

The Lyell's 11-aperture glazing pattern photographs well in White, where the frame lines around the glass stay crisp rather than disappearing into the panel colour. Grey is the other finish we would put in front of a customer choosing this design — it is muted enough that the glazing, not the door colour, is the first thing you notice on the half-glazed face. For a bolder frontage, Quartz Grey gives the same proportions a completely different character without changing the layout at all. Whichever you choose, ask to see a physical sample against your own pale render; screens flatten differences that are obvious in daylight. Woodgrain finishes such as Golden Oak and Irish Oak are available on the Lyell as well as the flat colours, and tend to suit this panel shape particularly well on older properties.

Glass designs and hardware for the Lyell

In the Lyell's apertures, obscure glass such as Glacier keeps the hallway private while still passing daylight, and is what we fit as standard unless a customer asks otherwise. Neo is the better choice where the door faces a garden or a quiet lane rather than the street, since more of the pattern reads as clear. Hardware-wise, a chrome or satin handle set suits the 11-aperture rhythm on a more contemporary elevation, while pewter or black points it towards period streets in Camborne.
