The Kabru is built on Endurance's 48mm solid engineered-timber core, so it stays rigid in Cornish wind and driving rain rather than flexing like a foam-filled slab. Roughly 15% of the face is glazed across 9 apertures, and every unit is fitted with toughened, argon-filled double glazing as standard. Supplied and installed across Cornwall by our own CERTASS-registered fitters, finished in any of the 20 Endurance colours shown on this page.

That proportion of glass is deliberate rather than decorative: a mid-sized run like this balances daylight against privacy. Every unit is toughened and argon-filled as standard, and the 9-aperture layout is what gives the Kabru its particular rhythm on the door face.

Matching the Kabru to your property type
The 9-aperture layout on the Kabru was clearly drawn for a specific kind of hallway: one that needs a defined amount of daylight rather than either none or all of it. That makes it a strong fit for dark hallways, and we fit it regularly on streets in Camborne where the original Victorian doors would have carried a similar glazed proportion before they were replaced with plain uPVC decades ago. Against cob it holds its own without needing a bold colour to do the work. We would always recommend seeing the Kabru against a working sample of your chosen colour before ordering, since the panel's proportions change how a colour reads compared with a plainer design.
Colours that flatter the Kabru's panel layout
The Kabru's 9-aperture glazing pattern photographs well in French Navy, where the frame lines around the glass stay crisp rather than disappearing into the panel colour. Schwarz Braun Black is the other finish we would put in front of a customer choosing this design — it is muted enough that the glazing, not the door colour, is the first thing you notice on the half-glazed face. For a bolder frontage, Duck Egg gives the same proportions a completely different character without changing the layout at all. Whichever you choose, ask to see a physical sample against your own cob; screens flatten differences that are obvious in daylight. Dual-colour finishing — a different shade inside and out — is available on the Kabru at no extra cost, which is worth considering if the hallway decor doesn't match the exterior palette you want.
Hardware and glass options for the Kabru
We would default the Kabru to an obscure design such as Clarity across all 9 apertures if the door opens straight onto a pavement, and offer Mayfair as the upgrade where more visibility through the glass is welcome — a rear garden door, for instance, or a porch that already screens the view. On hardware, this panel layout carries a slim lever handle well; a bulkier traditional set can look slightly out of scale against apertures this size. Our CERTASS-registered fitters install the Kabru in a single day in almost every case, including full disposal of the old door and frame.
