Which Cornish properties suit the Dowell
The 9-aperture layout on the Dowell was clearly drawn for a specific kind of hallway: one that needs a defined amount of daylight rather than either none or all of it. That makes it a strong fit for semi-detached homes, and we fit it regularly on streets in St Austell where the original Victorian doors would have carried a similar glazed proportion before they were replaced with plain uPVC decades ago. Against reclaimed brick it holds its own without needing a bold colour to do the work. We would always recommend seeing the Dowell against a working sample of your chosen colour before ordering, since the panel's proportions change how a colour reads compared with a plainer design.
Finishing the Dowell in the right shade
The Dowell's 9-aperture glazing pattern photographs well in White, where the frame lines around the glass stay crisp rather than disappearing into the panel colour. French Navy is the other finish we would put in front of a customer choosing this design — it is muted enough that the glazing, not the door colour, is the first thing you notice on the half-glazed face. For a bolder frontage, Duck Egg gives the same proportions a completely different character without changing the layout at all. Whichever you choose, ask to see a physical sample against your own reclaimed brick; screens flatten differences that are obvious in daylight. Glass designs and hardware for the Dowell
We would default the Dowell to an obscure design such as Neo across all 9 apertures if the door opens straight onto a pavement, and offer Oxford as the upgrade where more visibility through the glass is welcome — a rear garden door, for instance, or a porch that already screens the view. On hardware, this panel layout carries a slim lever handle well; a bulkier traditional set can look slightly out of scale against apertures this size. Lead time on the Dowell is the same as the rest of the range — typically four to six weeks from survey to fit, whatever glass and hardware combination you choose.
