The Cader Idris is built on Endurance's 48mm solid engineered-timber core, so it stays rigid in Cornish wind and driving rain rather than flexing like a foam-filled slab. Roughly 10% of the face is glazed across 7 apertures, and every unit is fitted with toughened, argon-filled double glazing as standard. Supplied and installed across Cornwall by our own CERTASS-registered fitters, finished in any of the 20 Endurance colours shown on this page.
Among Endurance's half-glazed doors, the Cader Idris earns its place, with 10% of the face glazed across 7 separate apertures. That proportion of glass is deliberate rather than decorative: a mid-sized run like this balances daylight against privacy. Every unit is toughened and argon-filled as standard, and the 7-aperture layout is what gives the Cader Idris its particular rhythm on the door face.
The name nods to a Snowdonia ridge, and — whether or not that heritage was intentional in the naming — the Cader Idris has the presence to carry it: it reads as a considered, slightly more architectural design than Endurance's plainer numbered panels. We fit it across Cornwall on victorian terraces and it has become one of our better-liked half-glazed styles for exactly that reason.

Matching the Cader Idris to your property type
At 10% glazed, the Cader Idris is neither a bright, glass-dominant design nor a fully private one — it occupies the middle ground that suits porch replacements. We would point a customer with a dark, narrow hall in Newquay towards this design over a solid panel, and towards it over a full-glazed design if they have young children or simply prefer not to be visible from the street when answering the door. Finishing the Cader Idris in the right shade
The Cader Idris's 7-aperture glazing pattern photographs well in White, where the frame lines around the glass stay crisp rather than disappearing into the panel colour. Claystone is the other finish we would put in front of a customer choosing this design — it is muted enough that the glazing, not the door colour, is the first thing you notice on the half-glazed face. For a bolder frontage, French Navy gives the same proportions a completely different character without changing the layout at all. Whichever you choose, ask to see a physical sample against your own granite; screens flatten differences that are obvious in daylight. Woodgrain finishes such as Golden Oak and Irish Oak are available on the Cader Idris as well as the flat colours, and tend to suit this panel shape particularly well on older properties.
Getting the glazing and hardware right
Cotswold is the glass design most customers choose for the Cader Idris's apertures, since it obscures the view through without darkening the hallway the way a heavily patterned glass can. Harmony is worth considering if the door sits under a porch roof, where privacy is already handled by the structure and a clearer glass lets more light through. Pair either with a handle finish that matches your existing window furniture so the whole frontage reads as one decision rather than several. Multi-point locking and a 3-star anti-snap cylinder are fitted as standard regardless of glass or colour choice, so the security specification doesn't change whichever route you take with the Cader Idris.
