The Alto is built on Endurance's 48mm solid engineered-timber core, so it stays rigid in Cornish wind and driving rain rather than flexing like a foam-filled slab. Roughly 10% of the face is glazed across 4 apertures, and every unit is fitted with toughened, argon-filled double glazing as standard. Supplied and installed across Cornwall by our own CERTASS-registered fitters, finished in any of the 20 Endurance colours shown on this page.
The Endurance Alto is a half-glazed door built around 4 glazed apertures, with 10% of the face glazed across 4 separate apertures. That proportion of glass is deliberate rather than decorative: a mid-sized run like this balances daylight against privacy. Every unit is toughened and argon-filled as standard, and the 4-aperture layout is what gives the Alto its particular rhythm on the door face.
The name nods to simply 'high' in Spanish and Italian, and — whether or not that heritage was intentional in the naming — the Alto has the presence to carry it: it reads as a considered, slightly more architectural design than Endurance's plainer numbered panels. We fit it across Cornwall on dark hallways and it has become one of our better-liked half-glazed styles for exactly that reason.

Matching the Alto to your property type
At 10% glazed, the Alto is neither a bright, glass-dominant design nor a fully private one — it occupies the middle ground that suits dark hallways. We would point a customer with a dark, narrow hall in Redruth towards this design over a solid panel, and towards it over a full-glazed design if they have young children or simply prefer not to be visible from the street when answering the door. Whatever the property type, every Alto we quote is measured and templated on site rather than to a standard size, so the panel and glazing proportions shown here translate exactly to the finished door.
Which of the 21 Endurance colours suit the Alto
The Alto's 4-aperture glazing pattern photographs well in Black, where the frame lines around the glass stay crisp rather than disappearing into the panel colour. Brilliant Blue is the other finish we would put in front of a customer choosing this design — it is muted enough that the glazing, not the door colour, is the first thing you notice on the half-glazed face. For a bolder frontage, French Navy gives the same proportions a completely different character without changing the layout at all. Whichever you choose, ask to see a physical sample against your own pale render; screens flatten differences that are obvious in daylight. Hardware and glass options for the Alto
We would default the Alto to an obscure design such as Florida across all 4 apertures if the door opens straight onto a pavement, and offer Diamond as the upgrade where more visibility through the glass is welcome — a rear garden door, for instance, or a porch that already screens the view. On hardware, this panel layout carries a slim lever handle well; a bulkier traditional set can look slightly out of scale against apertures this size. Our CERTASS-registered fitters install the Alto in a single day in almost every case, including full disposal of the old door and frame.
