The Algas is built on Endurance's 48mm solid engineered-timber core, so it stays rigid in Cornish wind and driving rain rather than flexing like a foam-filled slab. Roughly 14% of the face is glazed across 7 apertures, and every unit is fitted with toughened, argon-filled double glazing as standard. Supplied and installed across Cornwall by our own CERTASS-registered fitters, finished in any of the 20 Endurance colours shown on this page.
The Endurance Algas is a half-glazed door built around 7 glazed apertures, with 14% of the face glazed across 7 separate apertures. That proportion of glass is deliberate rather than decorative: a mid-sized run like this balances daylight against privacy. Every unit is toughened and argon-filled as standard, and the 7-aperture layout is what gives the Algas its particular rhythm on the door face.
The name nods to a peak in the Pyrenees, and — whether or not that heritage was intentional in the naming — the Algas has the presence to carry it: it reads as a considered, slightly more architectural design than Endurance's plainer numbered panels. We fit it across Cornwall on balanced light and privacy and it has become one of our better-liked half-glazed styles for exactly that reason.

Where the Algas looks right
With 14% of the face glazed across 7 apertures, the Algas sits comfortably on balanced light and privacy — the glazing is proportioned to lift a hallway without turning the entrance into a shop window. On a granite elevation the panel lines read as intentional rather than decorative, which matters on the terraced streets around Falmouth and Penzance where every door on the row is visible from the pavement. If your hallway is genuinely dark, this is one of the better-lit options in the half-glazed category without stepping up to a full-glass design. Whatever the property type, every Algas we quote is measured and templated on site rather than to a standard size, so the panel and glazing proportions shown here translate exactly to the finished door.
Finishing the Algas in the right shade
The Algas's 7-aperture glazing pattern photographs well in Quartz Grey, where the frame lines around the glass stay crisp rather than disappearing into the panel colour. Schwarz Braun Black is the other finish we would put in front of a customer choosing this design — it is muted enough that the glazing, not the door colour, is the first thing you notice on the half-glazed face. For a bolder frontage, Anthracite Grey gives the same proportions a completely different character without changing the layout at all. Whichever you choose, ask to see a physical sample against your own granite; screens flatten differences that are obvious in daylight. Finishing touches on the Algas
We would default the Algas to an obscure design such as Harmony across all 7 apertures if the door opens straight onto a pavement, and offer Regency as the upgrade where more visibility through the glass is welcome — a rear garden door, for instance, or a porch that already screens the view. On hardware, this panel layout carries a slim lever handle well; a bulkier traditional set can look slightly out of scale against apertures this size. Lead time on the Algas is the same as the rest of the range — typically four to six weeks from survey to fit, whatever glass and hardware combination you choose.
