Endurance Abbott composite door

The Abbott is built on Endurance's 48mm solid engineered-timber core, so it stays rigid in Cornish wind and driving rain rather than flexing like a foam-filled slab. Roughly 5% of the face is glazed across 5 apertures, and every unit is fitted with toughened, argon-filled double glazing as standard. Supplied and installed across Cornwall by our own CERTASS-registered fitters, finished in any of the 20 Endurance colours shown on this page.

Abbott sits in the part-glazed section of the Endurance range, with 5% of the face glazed across 5 separate apertures. That proportion of glass is deliberate rather than decorative: a small run of apertures like this lets light reach a hallway without turning the door into a window. Every unit is toughened and argon-filled as standard, and the 5-aperture layout is what gives the Abbott its particular rhythm on the door face.

It is a design that rewards a proper site visit: photographs flatten the glazing, but in person the Abbott has a depth to its lines that suits privacy with light particularly well.

This is a part glazed design. Anthracite Grey delivers architectural impact and reads sharp against brickwork, render, granite and slate across Cornwall.

Fitted by our own CERTASS-registered installers right across Cornwall — Truro, Falmouth, Newquay, Penzance, St Austell, Bodmin, Camborne, Redruth and every village between.

Which Cornish properties suit the Abbott

With 5% of the face glazed across 5 apertures, the Abbott sits comfortably on narrow hallways — the glazing is proportioned to lift a hallway without turning the entrance into a shop window. On a cob elevation the panel lines read as intentional rather than decorative, which matters on the terraced streets around Truro and Mousehole where every door on the row is visible from the pavement. If your hallway is genuinely dark, this is one of the better-lit options in the part-glazed category without stepping up to a full-glass design. As with every Endurance design, the Abbott is backed by the 10-year manufacturer guarantee covering the core, the hardware and the colour finish, regardless of which property type it's fitted to.

Finishing the Abbott in the right shade

The Abbott's 5-aperture glazing pattern photographs well in Black, where the frame lines around the glass stay crisp rather than disappearing into the panel colour. Cream is the other finish we would put in front of a customer choosing this design — it is muted enough that the glazing, not the door colour, is the first thing you notice on the part-glazed face. For a bolder frontage, Anthracite Grey gives the same proportions a completely different character without changing the layout at all. Whichever you choose, ask to see a physical sample against your own cob; screens flatten differences that are obvious in daylight. Woodgrain finishes such as Golden Oak and Irish Oak are available on the Abbott as well as the flat colours, and tend to suit this panel shape particularly well on older properties.

Finishing touches on the Abbott

Oxford is the glass design most customers choose for the Abbott's apertures, since it obscures the view through without darkening the hallway the way a heavily patterned glass can. Kensington is worth considering if the door sits under a porch roof, where privacy is already handled by the structure and a clearer glass lets more light through. Pair either with a handle finish that matches your existing window furniture so the whole frontage reads as one decision rather than several. Lead time on the Abbott is the same as the rest of the range — typically four to six weeks from survey to fit, whatever glass and hardware combination you choose.
