How close to the coast can I fit an Endurance door?

There is no distance limit — Endurance doors are fitted right on the seafront, including properties with sea-spray impact zones on the Lizard, Sennen and Widemouth. We upgrade to full marine specification on anything within three miles of the coast.

Do Endurance doors rust?

The GRP door skin can never rust — it's a polymer, not a metal. What rusts on cheaper composite installs is the hardware: hinges, letterplate springs, screws. Our coastal spec upgrades every metal component in contact with outside air to A4 marine-grade stainless steel.

Will salt air damage the paint finish?

No — the factory-applied paint is cured over a UV-stabilised GRP substrate and carries the standard 10-year Endurance colour guarantee, which is honoured on coastal installs (unlike some timber and painted-aluminium guarantees which exclude coastal properties).

What about wind loading on exposed properties?

The 48mm solid timber core is one of the most dimensionally stable door constructions available — it doesn't flex under wind load the way foam-core doors do. On extremely exposed frontages we also add reinforced frame anchoring at the survey stage.

Does the coastal upgrade cost extra?

Yes but modestly — typically £120–£180 depending on hardware choices. It's the single best-value upgrade you can make on a coastal Cornwall door; it more than pays for itself within 3–4 years by not needing hardware replacement.

Do you fit Endurance doors on holiday lets and short-let properties?

Why standard "composite" doors fail on the Cornish coast.

Most sub-£1,500 composite doors sold online use a foam-filled slab and unbranded zinc-plated hinges. In the salt-heavy, wet-then-dry cycle of coastal Cornwall, the hinges start pitting within 18 months and the doorset develops a rust weep that stains the frame. On foam-core doors the slab itself can flex under sustained wind load, gapping the seal and letting driving rain past. Endurance's 48mm solid engineered core doesn't flex, and our stainless hardware doesn't corrode — the two problems disappear together.
