Farmhouse composite doors are visibly heavier than standard composite styles. The panel arrangement is usually four wide panels — two large uppers, two large lowers — rather than six narrow panels. Hardware is antique black wrought-iron effect or aged brass — never chrome or brushed stainless.

Antique black is the farmhouse-door default. Ring-pulls, long strap-hinge decorative overlays, thumb-latches and forge-effect knockers all read as period-appropriate. Aged brass is the acceptable alternative for slightly lighter farmhouse specifications. Modern satin chrome and brushed stainless finishes look wrong on farmhouse installations.
Sizing
Farmhouse doors are often wider than standard — 900 mm to 1000 mm widths are common on original farmhouse apertures. Heights range 2000 mm to 2200 mm. Bespoke sizing is the norm on farm installations because original apertures rarely match modern standard sizes.
