Most modern door colours are cool: anthracite, slate, brilliant white. Claystone is the counterweight. Against sandstone, warm render, buff brick and terracotta paving it looks settled, where a cool grey would look slightly at odds with the surroundings.
It sits comfortably next to white, cream and anthracite frames. It is harder next to golden oak, where the two warm tones can compete. If your windows are woodgrain, put samples together before deciding.
