St Blazey grew up alongside the china-clay works and the railway, and its terraces are tightly packed, mostly Victorian and Edwardian in age, running close together along streets like Middleway and Station Road. A short walk away, Par Beach gives the whole area a genuine coastal exposure that catches a lot of people out — it isn't a cliff-top village, but salt still reaches these streets on a westerly.
