Pelynt: a village upgrade that's mostly about warmth, not weatherproofing
By Cornwall Composite Doors · 25 October 1969 · 4 min read
Set back from the coast near Looe and Polperro, Pelynt's homes benefit from a composite door mainly through warmth and quiet rather than storm resistance.
A village a few miles inland of the coast
Pelynt sits inland of both Looe and Polperro, close enough to visit either in a few minutes but far enough back that it doesn't get the direct salt exposure those harbour towns do. PL13 housing here is a mix of stone cottages around the village centre and later development on the outskirts, most of it built to a fairly standard scale rather than the tight, non-standard openings you find in the coastal villages nearby.
The most common reason for a new door here
Pelynt customers most often come to us with an older timber or early uPVC front door that's simply lost its thermal performance — cold to the touch, draughty around the edges, sometimes with a glazed panel that's fogged internally. A modern composite doorset, properly sealed and fitted with a current multi-point lock, makes a genuinely noticeable difference to how warm the hallway feels through the winter, without needing any of the marine-grade specification we'd use on the coast a few miles away.
Styles that suit the village centre and the outskirts
Around the village centre, a traditional panelled composite door in Chartwell Green or black suits the older stone cottages well. On the newer development towards the edges of the village, anthracite grey and mid-grey flush designs are more popular, matching the grey window frames common on that housing.
Part of our Looe and Polperro rounds
Pelynt sits neatly between our Looe and Polperro coverage, so we regularly combine surveys here with visits to both towns, which keeps things efficient and cost-effective for village homeowners.
